Whether a seasoned Christian or brand new to the faith, we all need a fresh encounter with the transforming power of Jesus Christ. We want to see people healed, whole and engaged with their God-given purpose.

1. ENCOUNTER - a fresh touch of Jesus

In the Bible, we find many examples of people desperate for encounters with Jesus, and we see Jesus responding by touching them with His power - healing and restoring them, and asking them to follow Him.

The first step in our disciple-making process is to bring people into environments where they hear about Jesus, then encounter Him and make the commitment to begin a personal relationship with Him.

It’s also important for seasoned Christians to receive a fresh touch from God so that they don’t become stagnant. We need to continue to grow and learn, so our services have space for that encounter to happen, along with the offering of prayer ministry after services.

2. EXPERIENCE - the freedom we find in Jesus

We need to take hold of the truth of exactly who we are and why we are on this earth. It’s important to pause and take the time to be transformed, by dealing with personal and spiritual issues that may be holding us back.

Our starting point is attending a ‘Freedom in Christ’ or Alpha course, or joining an Engage Group.

Taking a course or joining a small group will also help to encourage greater connection within the church, to feel truly part of the church family and involved in aspects of church life other than just Sunday services.

3. EQUIP - and take hold of our God given purpose

God has a purpose for us. He wants to equip us with skills and wisdom. He desires us to have a joyful, ambitious and purpose-filled life.

We need to take responsibility for our own spiritual journeys; discovering how God wants to use us to make a difference and then living that out in our sphere of influence.

Using resources such as Discovering Your God-Given Purpose and Find Your Fit, along with regularly attending church services, Engage Groups and other church-run events helps equip us to fulfil our God-given purpose.

4. ENGAGE - with your mission to make a difference

We know what our mission as a church is, but to accomplish it we all have to play our part and pitch in. Just as others have played their part before us, we now have a role and responsibility to do the same.

The more people we have involved in ministry, the more our church whanau feel connected and cared for, and the more likely we are to bring others along. Our church’s capacity to grow increases as people leave their seats to serve others.

Action Steps: Serving as part of the ‘family’, serving in your sweet spot, your personal mission or vocation
